My 16Gb Ipod Touch died this past Monday. I was using it just fine. Laid it down on my desk just to go get some lunch, and when I came back, it wouldn’t turn on. I just got the Apple logo. Thinking it could be the battery I plugged it into my PC, not only did it not charge, but iTunes didn’t recognize it either.

I’ve tried everything since: resseting it via the Power/Menu buttons, upgrading my iTunes version, leaving it all night long plugged in to charge… I even took it to the nearest Apple Authorized Center (they limited themselves to declare it officially dead, tell me my warraty had expired…and charge me $20 just to tell me that). Nothing has worked so far.

Any geeks out there with ideas? I miss my iPod very much and right now I just can’t afford to replace it. And certainly won’t buy any Apple products again, if they just die after a couple years. These are expensive products! I expect them to last!

I had upgraded it to the 3.0 OS just three weeks ago.

My Ipod Touch de 16 Gb murió éste lunes. Estaba usándolo sin problemas. Lo dejé seguro en mi escritorio para ir a almorzar, y cuando regresé ya no quiso encender. Sólo me aparecía el logo de Apple. Pensando que era cosa de una batería gastada, lo conecté a mi PC, no sólo que volvió a pasar lo mismo (loguito de Apple y nada más), sino que iTunes no lo reconoció. No cargó.

Desde ahí he probado de todo: resetearlo via los botones de Power/Menú, actualizar mi versión de iTunes, dejarlo conectado toda la noche para que cargue la batería. Hasta lo llevé al Servicio Técnico Autorizado Apple (Mac Center, San Marino, Guayaquil), pero ellos sólo se han limitado a decirme que efectivamente, está muerto; que no pueden hacer nada, que mi garantía ya expiró (lo compré en Febrero 2008); eso sí, me cobraron $20 para decirme eso.

¿Algún geek con ideas por ahí? Lo extraño un montón (trabajo en un ambiente con muchas distracciones, aunque suene increíble, mi iPod me ayudaba a concentrarme), y en éste momento, no me es po$ible reemplazarlo. De lo que sí estoy segura es de que no volveré a comprar productos Apple otra vez. ¡Son gadgets caros! ¡Por el dinero que cuestan, espero que duren!

Le había actualizado (via iTunes) el sistema operativo al 3.0 hace cosa de 3 semanas.
